Basic Handgun

Basic Pistol is a beginner’s course intended to familiarize students with various types of pistols and their nomenclature, characteristics and cycle of operation. The Basic Pistol course is comprised of a range of topics and live fire drills which will enable the new pistol shooter to become familiar with his or her chosen type of handgun, how to safely manipulate the firearm, and effectively employ it at a basic skill level.

What You Need To Bring

  • Pistol of reputable brand name

  • Minimum of three magazines for semi-automatic pistols or speed loaders for revolvers

  • Wraparound ballistic eye protection

  • Ear protection (electronic is preferred)

  • 200 rounds of weapon-specific ammunition

  • Positive attitude

  • Willingness to learn

  • Ability to follow simple instructions

Recommended

  • Ball cap

  • Knee and elbow pads

  • Durable clothing (511s, boots, heavy-material, long-sleeve shirt)

  • Wet and/or cold weather gear

  • Sack lunch, snacks and water

  • Sun screen

This course lasts one 8 hour day.
